The African Black Duck can run as fast as 8 miles per hour or 13 kilometers per hour.

Did you know?

That ducks have three eyelids?! One is a membrane. A membrane is a thin, soft layer of material that separates two things. They have two eyelids that work just like ours, and a third to protect their eyes when they dive underwater.

There are over 130 different species of ducks in the world, but only about 15 live in Africa. One of those is the African Black Duck.

Ducklings (baby ducks) will usually follow the first person or animal they see when they hatch. This is called imprinting. If you don’t want a duckling to follow you around forever,

watch out for them.
